Hey OTM Families!
Here On The Mat we hold many events during the year, but our most consistent events are our Testing!
Our staff does a fantastic job of making sure each family is informed and ready each time Testing rolls around. I am sure you have seen one of our many emails, Facebook posts, posters, and class announcements! Over the years we have answered many questions when it comes to these events, and today I’d like to share a roadmap to success when child is preparing for their next belt!
Starting on week 6 of our testing cycle you will start to see posters, and emails with the testing day and time for each program. This is also the deadline for anyone who is wishing to age out of a program (for more on this, check out our Parent’s Coaching Clinic). Simply notify your instructor during this week and we can facilitate moving your ninja into the next program up!
During week 7, you will start hearing more frequent announcements about Testing and will be able to register your ninja for their next belt rank! To register see our desk manager or your instructor for personalized instruction on how to fill out your testing registration and order any uniforms or equipment to make sure your ninja is on point!
If you already have plans, or an emergency arises you can always schedule an early or late testing with one of your instructors so that your ninja doesn’t miss out. To arrange this, speak to your favorite instructor or desk manager for scheduling and details!
Throughout week 8, we will continue to collect registrations so don’t fret if you are running a little behind! We will also be working with all of our students in class to make sure everyone is good to go! Feel free to set up a private lesson with your favorite instructor as well if you want a little extra polishing for a great score at testing!
Week 9 is our review week and final classes before testing day! During this week, any student that has a minimum of 6 stripes may earn their remaining stripes to collect all 8. Those that already have their stripes will gain further polishing as we do a final run through of all of their testing material. Finally, our students will test this weekend!
Week 10 of our cycle holds our Fun Camps and Make-up Testing! Since Martial Arts is a “year-round” activity unlike baseball or football which are seasonal, we like to offer our families a chance to dial down the craziness of everyday life and take a break to reenergize. We will be open on Monday & Tuesday but closed Wednesday-Thursday. These classes are completely optional and will not be covering any curriculum so if you choose not to come, you will only be missing out on a ton of fun.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask!
Sincerely,
Master Andrew
